Getting down & muddy @ Southdown Farm, Keyser

Worktime on the eeepc'sWe got a little lost finding Southdown Farm, where we were setting up the 3man tent for the night. We decided that as it was just one night there, it wasn’t worth setting up the big tent. While driving around we got to have a look at the cute little village of Keyser, and found a supermarket. I didn’t have a pillow, so had visions of returning after we set up the tent to buy one. We also didn’t have any food at this point, so we made note of where it was to return to stock up on a few supplies.

When we finally found the camp site it was pouring with rain again. We impressed ourselves with how fast we set up the tent. More a matter of necessity that we didn’t want to get too wet. Within a few minutes we had it up. Time to hit the village & get something to eat for the mini supermarket.

When stocking up we asked about any fish & chip shops in the area. We found a little one run by asians & unfamiliar with the fish choices on the menu, I followed Pauls lead I got cod & chips. We took it back to our little tent to have our first camp feed before blowing up the mattress. We probably should have eaten it with a spoon!! It was swimming in oil! My arteries were hardening just looking at it. So I just picked at a few bits of fish & had a few patted dry from oil chips in a bread roll. Paul also turned a shade of green from the amount of grease. Trust me, blowing up a mattress after that was an effort to say the least!

After we were all settled, it was time to get our geek supplies setup. I had mobile broadband to set up & my temporary phone. Having Paul around made most of this easy! I probably would have got frustrated within the first 30 minutes! Anyhows, it was work time now & time to nose down & tail feathers up for a couple of hours to catch up. Both eeePCs got a good work out for a while that night.

After a restless night sleep we woke early in the morning to head off. Time to hit Brighton. Southdown Farm was as close as we could get to Brighton at the time, 20km’s away.

Hopfeully it clears up today!
